hmmm...

Well I didn't run this morning thinking it would be better to rest and run this afternoon instead, but when I got to this afternoon I found a tightness in the side of my left knee. Not happy. So I sat it out today and I'll probably go for a swim tomorrow morning and then see how I feel in the afternoon...

It's moderately suspicious because it's similiar to the feeling I got middle of last year after Warwick that I couldn't shake for two months...

Packed on the deep heat and been stretching... will see what happens in the moro!

Pain on the outside of the knee??? Hope its not the dreaded ITB. Might be worth checking out some stretching and massaging techniques on the net if you haven't already.

Re PCRG all you have to do is turn up. We start at 5:40am at The Ship Inn, its best to get there about 10 mins before that to sign in ... and chat :-) First lesson is free, a gold coin donation to Camp Quality is optional. After that is $8 per session or $50 for 8 sessions I think. Worth checking out Pat's website just in case.

Hope you can make it along, you'd love it! There are loads of crazy triathletes in the group too.

The perfect test for an unhappy ITB is to raid your mum's kitchen for the rolling pin - then put the rolling pin on the ground & lay on your side on top of it (with the pin under your upper leg). You'll very soon find out if it's ITB. I hope its not !

PS ya didn't hear about the rolling pin thing from me ;-)

I immediately thought ITB too; it can be nasty but can be fixed. I've had long-standing ITB problems which have been resolved through stretching.

I left a comment here this morning and it has just disappeared.

I can't even remember what I said - but it was all great!!!!

the main thing I wanted to get across to you was STOP WITH THE DEEP HEAT. Use ICE instead.

ITB is a cycling/running injury so it is highly likely it is this that is starting to niggle you. Hopefully you will be able to continue to train through it - though pay attention and back off. Do lots of cross training to strengthen your TFL and Hip flexors - they pull on your ITB. Also follow the 10% rule and make sure your shoes are all okay.

Best of luck with it Owen and I look forward to seeing you at Pats soon.

Be careful with that one then Owen.

I'm with Clairie - ice, and perhaps taping, as shown to you by a physio.

Take care with the bunch rides. Miners can tell you a story or two about those :)
